Mental health disorders are amongst the most frequent causes of disability worldwide, with certain disorders continuing to rise in prevalence. Despite advances in research and treatment many patients still suffer from chronic courses of illness, associated with poor outcomes and low quality of life. This is especially true for those more severely affected, who also have a higher degree of comorbidity and often fail to respond to traditional treatment. Paradoxically, this population is, to a large extent, neglected in research further diminishing their therapeutic options. Our mission is to improve diagnosis and assessment of the needs of this population, leading to the implementation of new treatment methods.
