Curriculum vitae

Wolfgang Omlor is a board-certified psychiatrist and attending physician in adult psychiatry at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich. He obtained his medical doctorate summa cum laude at the University of Freiburg under the supervision of Prof. Rumyana Kristeva and completed his PhD in natural sciences at the University of Zurich with Prof. Fritjof Helmchen. As a fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, he undertook clinical study periods at Harvard Medical School and the University of Oxford. His clinical training included neurology at the University Hospital Zurich and adult psychiatry at the PUK, where he is also a postdoctoral researcher in the Homan Lab. His previous research focused on corticospinal interactions and neural circuit dynamics in the mammalian motor system, using electrophysiology, optogenetics and calcium imaging. His current research bridges systems neuroscience and psychiatry, with a focus on neurocomputational and multimodal phenotyping of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. He has published in leading peer-reviewed journals including The American Journal of Psychiatry, Nature Communications, Science and The Journal of Neuroscience, obtained competitive external research funding, serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and teaches neurophysiology and psychiatry.
