Psychedelic Research & Therapy Development (PD Dr. med. PhD M. Scheidegger)
Our research group investigates psychedelic medicines as tools for transformative mental health interventions. We study their transdiagnostic mechanisms of action—across neurobiology, behavior, and experience—to understand how psychedelics enhance neurobehavioral plasticity, facilitate therapeutic processes, and support lasting psychological change.
By integrating neuroscience, clinical research, and psychotherapy development, we examine compounds such as ayahuasca-inspired DMT formulations, 5-MeO-DMT, psilocybin, and ketamine. Our work aims to bridge early-phase clinical research and drug development with psychotherapy innovation, translating basic and clinical science into safe, effective, and scalable approaches for psychedelic-assisted mental health care.
