Thomas studied psychology at the University of Zurich, where he completed his PhD with a focus on investigating associations between sleep disturbance, nightmares, and psychopathology. Thomas currently continues his research as a postdoctoral student at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich, where he works as a clinical psychologist on an inpatient ward, specialized in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.
